We’re about to start offering multi-day trips to the Keys.

They’re going more laid back, for wannabe pirates, looking for adventure, and a taste of cruising, while relaxing in paradise with a couple of friends, and at a much lower price than those “fancy” cruises, the other guys do. That doesn’t mean we won’t take great care of you. Meals and non alcoholic beverages will be included. We have kayaks, snorkeling gear, bikes, fishing gear, and we may even share our rum!

It still needs a little refining, but this is a big improvement from storing the kayak on deck.

We currently have 2 T-shirt designs for the Grouchy Turtle.

The Grouchy Turtle logo T-shirt and the “I’M ON THE TURTLE BITCH!” (AKA: Miami) T-shirt.

What we need now is a third design. A middle of the road design for people who think the logo design is a little too plane, but who aren’t in Miami…BITCH! The captain’s creative juices are currently running a little low, so I’m calling on you to help. I need you your ideas for a catchy tag line or a cool concept. I’m not asking for designs or artwork. Simply tell me your idea in writing, on the Grouchy Turtle’s wall.

If your design is chosen, you win a weekend trip for 2, on the Grouchy Turtle, to Boca Chita Key, and 2 T-shirts with your design.

My next outboard

I saw these guys at the Miami Boat Show. If and when the time comes, that I decide I do want an outboard on the dinghy again, this is it. That’s right a propane powered motor! Low emission, more fuel efficient than gas, and no damn ethanol and gummed up carb to deal with.

SUDS, Soldiers Undertaking Disabled SCUBA, will be auctioning off a day on the Grouchy Turtle for 6 people, as well as over 30 matted prints of my photos, at the Miami Boat Show. If you’re not in the Miami area, raffle tickets can also be purchased online.

South Florida Divers, Inc. (SFDI), a local South Florida dive club, will be hosting a fundraiser to benefit SUDS, Soldiers Undertaking Disabled SCUBA, at the Miami International Boat Show. The SUDS program is designed to help improve the lives of severely injured veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. By training the warriors in a challenging and rewarding activity such as SCUBA, it can help facilitate the rehabilitation process and promote mobility unlike any other sport. SUDS is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization.

Throughout the entire show, SFDI will be at Booth #1926 in the Dive and Travel Harbor displaying items available for a silent auction and raffle. All items have been generously donated to SFDI for this event. Examples of items include; SCUBA gear, live-aboard vacation packages, Fishing charters, marine artwork, SCUBA training, and many more.

The Boat Show is from February 16-20 and SFDI will have a special event the evening of Saturday the 18^that the Miami Convention Center, 6pm, room B118. Saturday after the show, SFDI will be hosting a reception with videos about SUDS, speakers, live entertainment, food and drinks. This is an open event that anyone may attend, a minimum donation is recommended. Many of the silent auctions and raffles will come to a close that evening and winners will be announced. Attendees of the reception will be eligible for many door prizes.

Last year, nearly $13,000 was raised during this event.
